At Masterpiece Automobile in Minneapolis, MN, we completed a fully integrated, high-end audio and interior build for this 1979 Pontiac Trans Am, blending modern acoustic performance with a period-correct aesthetic. We engineered the system around a Helix V EIGHT DSP amplifier, Helix Ci5 component front stage, Helix Ci3 rear fill speakers, and a Helix IK S 12-inch subwoofer, all controlled through a RetroSound vintage-look head unit to maintain the factory appearance of the dash. To ensure OEM-grade fitment and optimal acoustics, we custom designed and fabricated new door panels, a package tray, and complete trunk panels and trim. The interior was then professionally finished by Topstitch Auto Upholstery, who handled the carpet, seats, and door panel upholstery with exceptional craftsmanship. The result is a Minneapolis-built 1979 Trans Am that showcases our approach to classic car audio integration, custom fabrication, and high-end automotive interior restoration.

The goal

This 1979 Pontiac Trans Am combines a modern audio system with a period-conscious interior. A RetroSound head unit maintains a vintage appearance at the dash while the HELIX system provides amplification, processing and speakers.

Equipment and fabrication

The documented system includes a HELIX V EIGHT DSP amplifier, Ci5 front components, Ci3 rear speakers and an IK S 12-inch subwoofer.
