That standard showed up in a big way at the 2026 MasterTech Expo Build-Off Challenge, where Josh Ritenour of Masterpiece Automobile helped lead the Silver Team to the win. The Build-Off was one of the headline competitions at this year’s MasterTech Expo in Mesa, Arizona, putting top-tier fabricators on stage in a live, high-pressure, real-time fabrication showdown.
The Silver Team featured Josh Ritenour (Masterpiece Automobile) alongside Josh Thaxton of DES of Wilmington, and Chris Britton of CB Customs. According to the event page, competitors were tasked with designing and building a fully functional subwoofer enclosure and matching trim panel package live on site, using only the supplied tools, hardware, and materials. No pre-made parts. No shortcuts. Just craftsmanship under pressure.
That is exactly the kind of arena where true builders separate themselves.
The competition ran across Friday, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, 2026, with only 7 total build hours to execute. Teams were judged on craftsmanship, creativity and design, use of materials, and functionality—all while attendees watched the process unfold in real time like a live production floor.
For us, this win means more than a trophy.
